If you’ve caught a glimpse of a shimmering violet cocktail or smelled a sizzling steak while strolling down K Street lately, you may already be in the know about Butcher & Barrel. This eatery is quickly becoming a new Downtown favorite. Learn more about the delicious dining experience provided by Butcher & Barrel, a member of the Block Ice community.

Butcher & Barrel is Steaking a Claim in Downtown Sac

Butcher & Barrel arrived on the Sacramento restaurant scene in October 2023 and, since then, has been making quite the splash. The restaurant is part of a wave of new business and new excitement to emerge Downtown post-pandemic, as Sacramentans head out for date nights, shopping trips, or to light the beam.

The owner of Butcher & Barrel, Kevin McBride, stated in a Sacramento Business Journal article that he sees a “spark coming back alive” in Downtown Sac with tremendous growth in the area.

The Butcher & Barrel Team is led by Executive Chef Luis Cruz, who has spent over 17 years dedicated to his craft. Cruz is committed to providing a sustainable farm-to-fork dining experience that showcases local ingredients.

The vibrant new eatery offers an elevated casual environment where they serve upscale, fresh, farm-to-fork menu items. The restaurant is located on K Street, convenient to the Golden 1 Center and Downtown Commons.

Take A Peek at The Menu

When you step in the front door of Butcher & Barrel, you’re immersing yourself in an elegant atmosphere that feels right at home.

You can’t go wrong with any of the entrees on their seasonal menu. Choose from delicious dry-aged steaks, scrumptious burgers, ravioli with hand-crafted pasta, and more.

Butcher & Barrel adds a touch of elegance to their cocktail menu with the addition of Block Ice. When you order a craft cocktail or one of your favorite spirits on the rocks, you’ll spy their logo stamped into a familiar, crystal-clear cube.

The cocktail menu at Butcher & Barrel is as well-thought-out as the food menu. Keep it classic with The Butcher’s Old Fashion, made with bourbon and chocolate bitters. Need a pick-me-up? Try the Espresso Martini with coffee liqueur, cinnamon vanilla syrup, espresso, and chai tea. Or, celebrate the Sacramento Kings with a house specialty, the Light the Beam cocktail. This vibrant, purple, gin-based cocktail is as much of a treat to look at as it is to sip, made with lemon and lavender and topped with bubbly and a touch of glitter.
